Abstract

This study aims to identify the business resilience factors of micro cooperatives in the state of Sarawak using qualitative methods. Twenty-two (22) micro cooperatives that were over five years of establishment throughout the state of Sarawak involving nine (9) business functions have been selected as participants in this study. The sampling technique utilized a purposive sampling method and 22 respondents were interviewed. Data were analyzed using a thematic method which consists of open coding, axial coding and selective coding. Through face-to-face interview which has been conducted using interview protocol developed by the researcher as well as the transcription of the data obtained, there were three (3) business resilience factors among micro cooperatives in Sarawak have been identified, namely resource management factors, cooperative characteristics, and the business environment. The findings of the study has contributed to the development of theoretical and practical insights particularly on the micro cooperative development in Malaysia.
